ghostty
Made by JeffManage the Ghostty terminal: windows, tabs, splits, font size, config, themes and keybinds. Covers keybind actions and their macOS/Linux default keys, keybind = config lines, config file paths and reload, the real ghostty +action helpers (+list-actions, +show-config, +validate-config, +list-themes, +list-fonts, +explain-config), launching, and the only automation paths that exist: AppleScript and Shortcuts on macOS, D-Bus +new-window on Linux. Use when configuring or scripting Ghostty.

What's New with this Skill
2Updates, enhancements, and release notes for this skill.
Updated: ghostty, rewritten around the commands Ghostty actually has
The previous skill told agents to run ghostty +new-split, +goto-split, +reload-config and +increase-font-size, which are not CLI actions: Ghostty exits with an invalid-action error. The skill now separates the real +helper actions from keybind actions and covers default keys, config reload, launching, and the automation paths that exist on each platform.
- ghostty +new-split, +goto-split, +reload-config and +increase-font-size were never CLI actions; the skill no longer tells agents to run them
- Real CLI helpers: +list-actions, +list-keybinds, +show-config, +explain-config, +validate-config, +list-themes, +list-fonts, +edit-config
- Splits, tabs, fonts and reload are keybind actions, with macOS and Linux default keys and keybind = lines to bind your own
- Config reload is the reload_config action (cmd+shift+, on macOS) or the menu item; +edit-config does not reload
- macOS: launch with open -na Ghostty.app, automate with AppleScript or Shortcuts. Linux: ghostty -e, and +new-window over D-Bus
Checked against Ghostty 1.3.2 (ghostty +help, +list-actions) and its source.
- Two namespaces. CLI helpers such as
+list-actions,+list-keybinds,+show-config,+explain-config,+validate-config,+list-themes,+list-fontsand+edit-configinspect and check configuration. Window, tab, split and font changes are keybind actions (new_split:right,goto_split:left,increase_font_size:1,reload_config), run through a key binding, not from the shell.
New: Ghostty CLI, control the terminal emulator from the command line
Ghostty's helper actions (ghostty +list-fonts, +list-themes, +list-keybinds, +show-config, +validate-config) inspect fonts, themes, keybindings and configuration from the command line. Useful for scripted workspace setup and for changing terminal state without taking your hands off the keyboard.
- Window and tab control: ghostty +new-window, ghostty +new-tab, ghostty +new-split:right, ghostty +new-split:down for layout setup
- Split navigation: ghostty +goto-split:up/down/left/right and ghostty +close-surface for managing the current pane without mouse interaction
- Action discovery: ghostty +list-actions lists the keybind actions; ghostty +help lists the CLI helper actions
- Config tools: ghostty +show-config and +validate-config check the config file; a running session reloads it with the reload_config keybind (cmd+shift+comma on macOS)
- Remote SSH fix: if numpad Enter prints [57414u garbage on a server, copy the xterm-ghostty terminfo over with infocmp | tic, or fall back to TERM=xterm-256color
