New: Cursor CLI, open files, diffs, and projects in the AI-powered VS Code fork
Cursor is a VS Code fork with built-in AI. Its CLI works like VS Code's code command: open files at line:column, diff two files, configure it as the git editor. This skill is the command reference: opening files and windows, diff and wait, extensions, settings file locations, portable mode, stdin piping, and debugging flags.
- Open at line:column: cursor /path/to/file.ts:42:10. Useful for jumping straight to a stack trace location from the terminal
- Diff two files: cursor --diff a.ts b.ts (or -d)
- Git editor: git config --global core.editor "cursor --wait" so commit message editing happens inside Cursor
- Window control: -n (--new-window) opens a new window, -r (--reuse-window) reuses the existing one, --add adds a folder to the current workspace
- Extension management from the CLI: --list-extensions, --install-extension, --uninstall-extension, --disable-extensions, for reproducible dev environments
